Jackson Hole Airport Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Update Project Website
Welcome to the Jackson Hole Airport Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Update website. This website includes information on the Study, about the purpose of the Study, Frequently Asked Questions, and updates on upcoming meetings, milestones, and project documents. Currently, the Team is in the process of gathering information and preparing to officially kick off the Study.
We invite you to join us for this Study kick-off meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th at the following location: National Museum of Wildlife Art Auditorium, 2820 Rungius Road, Jackson, WY, 6:00 pmKick-off Meeting Tuesday, June 10th at the National Museum of Wildlife Art Auditorium, 2820 Rungius Road, Jackson, WY, 6:00 pm
The purpose of the meeting is to inform interested parties about the purpose of the Study and to outline the general Study process. Airport staff and the consultant team will be available to listen to citizen comments and answer questions about the Study. The Study is being conducted to identify and evaluate current and future noise effects caused by aircraft operations at Jackson Hole Airport.
We hope to see you there.
Introduction and Background:
Airports face many challenging issues. Among those issues is the effect that aircraft noise can have on the communities surrounding an airport. Over the past several decades, as communities around airports grew and air travel expanded, aircraft noise surfaced as a community concern. Reducing the effect of aircraft noise on the community and on Grand Teton National Park is a goal of the Jackson Hole Airport.
Airport noise compatibility planning focuses on reducing existing non-compatible land uses around airports and preventing the introduction of new non-compatible land uses. As part of this effort, Jackson Hole Airport has initiated the process of conducting a Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Update.
A Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study is a voluntary noise exposure and land use compatibility study prepared by an airport to identify existing noise exposure, identify potential future noise exposure, to evaluate various alternatives, and to make recommendations as to viable noise abatement/mitigation measures.
Generally speaking, the overall purpose of the FAR Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study is to reduce the number of people affected by significant aircraft noise levels within acceptable economic, environmental, and legal parameters. This can be achieved through both aircraft operational measures and land use measures which will be developed with community and stakeholder input.
